"Be a leader, be a friend, be of service"
The fundraising and service projects of the Fall 2020 Alpha Phi Omega Zeta Upsilon Chapter Pledge Class
"Alpha Phi Omega is the single most represented co-educational intercollegiate service organization in the United States. Since 1925, more than 500,000 members on over 375 campuses, continue to provide more service on more campuses than any other collegiate service organization.
It is the vision of Alpha Phi Omega to be the premier, inclusive, campus-based, leadership development organization through the provision of service to others and the creation of community.

Alpha Phi Omega teaches through the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service that we are architects of our own ambitions and that each of us has the opportunity to develop ourselves to be whatever we seek to be."

I pledged APO ZU in Fall 2020. Our pledge class chose the following organizations to work with for our fundraising and service projects.
The Greater Boston Food Bank
For our fundraising project, the APO ZU Fall’20 Pledge Class voted on helping those with food insecurities, which was why we decided to raise money for the GBFB (Greater Boston Food Bank). From attending myriad Education and Reflection events with APO, we became passionate about this cause, wanting to help provide families facing any kind of food insecurity with healthy meals. Therefore, a GoFundMe was set to raise funds for the GBFB.
One of our pledge class members helped with the fundraising activity by designing an Instagram story template for those who wish to donate via Venmo.
We not only met our goals for fundraising, but also exceeded them. A total of $1194 was raised ($194 more than our initial aim). I would like to thank everyone who helped contribute to the donations. Most importantly, to our amazing Pledge Masters Priya Viramgama and Nicolas Westerhoff for all their support and guidance to us, pledges!
Standish Village
For our service project, the APO ZU Fall’20 Pledge Class voted on letter writing to the senior residents living in Standish Village. Standish Village is a warm community that offers assisted living and a compass memory support neighborhood, with research-based institutions for those diagnosed with memory loss or Alzheimer's disease.

Each of us wrote three letters to the residents. Here are my letters:
